Multi-party Private Web Search with Untrusted Partners

چکیده
Web search engines are tools employed to find specific information in the Internet. However, they also represent a threat for the privacy of their users. This happens because the web search engines store and analyze the personal information that the users reveal in their queries. In order to avoid this privacy threat, it is necessary to provide mechanisms that protect the users of these tools. In this paper, we propose a multi-party protocol that protects the privacy of the user not only in front of the web search engine, but also in front of dishonest internal users. Our scheme outperforms similar proposals in terms of computation and communication.

متن کاملA Note on the Lindell-Waisbard Private Web Search Scheme
In 2010, Lindell and Waisbard proposed a private web search scheme for malicious adversaries. At the end of the scheme, each party obtains one search word and query the search engine with the word. We remark that a malicious party could query the search engine with a false word instead of the word obtained. The malicious party can link the true word to its provider if the party publicly complai...

The advances in positioning technologies and the emergence of geolocation standards opens up to the development of innovative location-based services (LBS), e.g., web-based LBS. These services challenge existing privacy protection solutions. For example, the position information is provided by a third party, the location provider, and this party may be not fully trusted. In this paper, we analy...
